All about National Eligibility Test (NET)

UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is conducted to determine the students’ eligibility for lectureship and to get Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Award. The University Grants Commission has set some guidelines that must be proven before applying for this exam.

Complete Details of UGC NET JRF 2018 Scholarship

Initial Tenure – 2 years. Will be increased only if the candidates' work will be found satisfactory.

Scholarship Amount – INR 25000 (for 2 years) and INR 28000 (for remaining time)

  • Contingency for Humanities and Social Sciences - INR 10,000/- per annum for initial two years and INR 20,500/- per annum for remaining three years.
  • Contingency for Science - INR 12,000/- per annum for initial two years and INR 25,000/- per annum for remaining three years.
  • Escorts/Reader Assistance – INR 2,000/- per month in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.
  • HRA – As per University/Institute rules.




What are the benefits after clearing UGC NET JRF?

UGC NET JRF 2018 Selection Process

For getting the UGC NET Junior Research Fellowship Award candidates has to go through the following step –

They have to secure minimum marks in both the papers.

They will be selected depending on the subject wise and category wise merit list that is prepared on the basis of total marks secured by the candidates.


Top 15% candidates from each subject and category will be selected and declared NET Qualified and then a list is prepared among the net qualified candidates for selecting the candidates eligible for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Updated UGC NET Syllabus for English Literature





We all know that CBSE has revised the exam pattern for CBSE UGC NET 2018 Exam. Previously there were three papers (Paper I, II, III). Now CBSE will conduct only two papers.

Paper I will be same as before but Paper II and III have been merged as Paper II.  So, all over only 2 papers will be conducted.

The latest notification of CBSE says that the syllabus of Paper 2 will cover the complete syllabus of paper III that was conducted previously.

NTA Will Conduct UGC NET From Now | Next Exam in Dec 2018



National Testing is all Set to Conduct UGC NET Dec 2018 as its First Exam. The Government has decided to give all the authority of conducting UGC NET Exam to a newly formed national level academic competition examination authority named National Testing Agency (NTA).


The UGC NET July 2018 Exam was the last exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). From now, only NTA will conduct the exam.  NTA will be created as a society registered under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860. 


The detailed official notification has not released till now. But the expected dates are here-


Online submission of UGC NET 2018 December exam: September 1, 2018, to September 30, 2018.

Dates of UGC NET 2018 December examination: December 2, 2018, to December 16, 2018

Declaration of results: Last week of January 2019

The UGC NET examinations will be held in two shifts per day on Saturdays and Sundays.


According to the recent notification, the major competitive exams like NEET, JEE Main, CMAT, and GPAT will also be conducted by NTA from now onwards.


As per the HRD ministry, the NTA will establish a network of test practice centres for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam.


The exams will be conducted online and will likely be conducted twice a year. The agency would function as an autonomous body and will be chaired by an educationist who will be appointed by the MHRD. The agency will have a board of governors who will represent the member institutions.


The agency would cater to about 40 lakh students who appear in various entrance exams. 1186454 students had registered for JEE Main exam this year. 11,38,890 had appeared for the NEET UG exam this year. Approximately 9.30 lakh candidates had registered for UGC NET which was concluded recently.

UGC NET July 2018 Answer Keys To Be Released Soon






The Central Boards of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully conducted the UGC NET July 2018 Exam this Sunday on 8th July 2018.

Thia might be the last UGC NET Exam that was conducted by CBSE. Because, after this exam, UGC NET and others many exams will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

This year a total of 1148235 students appeared for the exam. It was the highest ever recorded number of applicants for UGC NET Exam. This year 2082 exam centres were set by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). A total of 2864 observers were there along with 675 board officials. 

The exam that was conducted in 84 subjects at 91 cities. The exam consisted of two papers of objective type questions. Paper I was conducted for 1 Hour (from 09:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.). and paper II conducted for 2 Hours (11:00 A.M. to 01:00 P.M.).

After examination aspirants wait for the answer keys to check the answers they marked. The UGC NET Answer Keys for July 2018 examination will be released in the month of August 2018 on the official website cbsenet.nic.in. The exact dates will be released soon.

In this blog, it was mentioned earlier that from next session the UGC NET Exam will be conducted by NTA instead of CBSE. the decision was taken by the HRD minister.
Here is also a good news that the next will be conducted in this year in the month of December. So be prepared for the second attempt this year itself.

What is UGC NET? What is the full form of UGC NET?



UGC NET Exam is National Eligibility Test (NET) that is conducted on the behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC) by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).
The exam is conducted to select the interested candidate who is eligible for the post of Assistant professor of Junior Research Fellow (JRF).



What is the Eligibility Criteria to appear for the exam?

The qualified candidate can be awarded by lectureship or Junior Research Fellowship or Both.
If you want to get qualified for JRF, your age must be below 28 years. And, you must have passed your post-graduation with minimum 55% marks from any recognized university.

If you are considering becoming an Assistant Professor, there is no upper limit for your age.
The UGC NET exam is conducted in more than 80 subjects at approximately 90 exam centres.





What is the Procedure for Conducting UGC NET Exam?



The procedure of becoming a part of UGC NET Exam, you have to register for applying online. After you get assured by the eligibility criteria, you have to submit UGC NET Online Application and make the payment through an e-challan.

Then few days before the exam, the official will release UGC NET Admit Cards which you have to carry on exam day as an entry pass.

Next, you have to appear the online mode of UGC NET Exam. This year the exam is going to be held on 8th July 2018.

After appearing for the exam, based on your marks, top 15% candidates are selected for merit list.
As per the merit list, you will get awarded like lectureship or JRF.





What are the Career Options after Clearing UGC NET Exam?



After getting qualified for UGC NET Exam, you will not be getting a direct recruitment as a professor.

You have to explore your research various career options. The most important option can be as follows


1. After clearing the exam, you will be able to find reputed teaching jobs in your postgraduation subject or any other related subjects. You can get positions like lectured or assistant professor.

2. You can also apply for professor post in various reputed govt institutions.

3. You can get jobs in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

4. You can also continue your career as Researcher in reputed organizations like CSR and IITs.

5. For five years you will get paid, first 2 years as JRF and the last 3 years as SRF.
